Popular Medical College Bangladesh

Popular Medical College (PMC) is a private medical school located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established in 2010, it is a concern of the Popular Group and is affiliated with the University of Dhaka. The college is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Academics and Admission

The college offers a five-year Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. This is followed by a compulsory one-year internship. The medium of instruction is English.

For Bangladeshi students, admission is conducted centrally by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through a written multiple-choice question exam. Candidates are selected based on their test scores, as well as their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) grades.

International students can apply directly to the college. Eligibility requires a minimum aggregate GPA of 7.00 in SSC and HSC or equivalent examinations, with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Biology.

Fee Structure

The total course package for the MBBS program is approximately $50,000. Fees can be paid in installments. Please note that these fees are subject to change. The cost of living in Dhaka is considered low, which makes it an attractive destination for overseas students

Hospital Services

The Popular Medical College Hospital provides a range of services for patients, including a 24-hour emergency service and a large dialysis unit. It has five modern operation theaters for various surgeries, including neurosurgery and orthopedics. The hospital also has a well-supported NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
